"The Dubs" visit the pub to celebrate Dublin's first back-to-back All-Ireland title win since 1977

April 2016 - 200 key overseas tour operators visit the pub.
We pulled out all the stops to provide the night time entertainment to over two hundred VIP tour operators from around the world. The group visited the pub for traditional Irish entertainment as part of Meitheal 2016, the key event in the Irish Tourism Trade annual calendar.

March 2016 - All-Ireland senior football club champtions visit the pub
Ballyboden St Enda's became All-Ireland senior football club champions for the first time in their history after a comprehensive 13-point victory over Castlebar Mitchels of Mayo in the final at Croke Park on St Patrick's Day. They visited the pub to celebrate.

September 2015 - "The Dubs" visit the pub .... "two out of three ain't bad"
The victorious Dublin senior football visited the pub as part of their celebrations which included an impromptu performance by Liam of "Sam is coming home" including a swiftly penned additional verse celebrating their fantastic feat of three All-Ireland final wins in just five years.

July 2015 - Our "pub rules" goes viral on the internet.
A picture of the rules is viewed over a million times on the Imgur website as well as featuring on their home page for a day.

We are proud to present "An evening with Mickey MacConnell" at the pub. Mickey is renowned for his fantastic composition "Only our Rivers run free" and in more recent times the "ballad of Lidl and Aldi"

The Merry Ploughboy has retained the award for "Best Traditional Dinner/Entertainment even in Ireland" for a third consecutive year. The awards is based on independent customer satisfaction surveys by CIE International.

The Dublin Gaelic Football team win the All-Ireand Championship for the first time in sixteen years. The official name of the trophy is the "Sam Maguire Cup" but it is affectionately referred to as "Sam".

The Merry Ploughboy's song "Sam is coming home" hits number one in the world music charts on iTunes. The song was viewed over fifty thousand times in one week on YouTube. The song also received great air play on national radio and TV as a fantastically exciting build up to the All-Ireland final takes place in Dublin.
